Associate Professor of Industrial Design
The Cleveland Institute of Art Cleveland, Ohio, USA

Doug is an Associate Professor of Industrial Design at The Cleveland Institute of Art where has been teaching since 1998. Along with studio classroom projects, he collaborates with local organizations to bring together students and the community for special design projects including; up-cycled pallet furniture, bike racks to promote a bike friendly city, studio furniture from deconstructed houses and exploring biomimicry to studying the Cuyahoga River bulkheads and fish health.

2012 Program Timeline

Accepting participants through:
March 2, 2012

Access to online learning platform granted:
March 5, 2012

Commencement of online coursework:
March 11, 2012

Kick-off in-person session:
April 2–6, 2012

Mid-program in-person session:
August 5–10, 2012 (Eastern NA cohort)
August 7–12, 2012 (Western NA cohort)

Closing session and program graduation:
November 5–8, 2012


Program Cost and Payment Plan

Tuition and fees: $9,950 (USD)
Program tuition and fees include instruction, on-line technology fees, workshop materials and the primary course text from the Biomimicry 3.8, Biomimicry Resource Handbook, A Seed Bank of Knowledge and Best Practices. 

Program Expenses: $2,850 (USD)
Program expenses cover the in-person session costs, including shared room accommodations, meals, local travel, and entrance fees. The program expenses do not include travel expenses to and from the in-person session meet-up location (usually the airport) and any optional single room charges. Program expenses are non-negotiable items within the scope of the program costs.

Payment to the Biomimicry 3.8 for all program costs may be made in three equal installments of $4,276 (USD) through the duration of the course, roughly at the beginning, middle and end of the program. The specifics of the payment plan and payment due dates will be articulated in the Enrollment Form upon accept
ance.

A non-refundable down payment of $250 must be submitted with the program enrollment form after program acceptance.
